Zentrum für Labormedizin St.Gallen (ZLM)
The Centre for Laboratory Medicine St. Gallen specialises in human medical microbiology (HM), veterinary diagnostics (VD) and clinical chemistry, haematology and immunology (KCHI).
The ZLM guarantees comprehensive, high-quality laboratory diagnostics and provides basic laboratory care as well as special analyses for the Cantonal Hospital of St.Gallen, public hospitals/institutes, independent physicians and veterinarians in the canton and the region of Eastern Switzerland. The core competencies include daily routine and special analyses in clinical chemistry, hematology, hemostaseology, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics and veterinary diagnostics, such as BSE diagnostics, food hygiene and animal disease monitoring. The laboratories are characterized by innovation and state-of-the-art automation.
The ZLM conducts practice-oriented research & development as well as scientific studies on behalf of customers and in cooperation with academic institutions. Medical diagnostics and studies are closely interlinked with the infectious diseases department of the Cantonal Hospital St. Gallen, whereby the ZLM maintains a direct link to the clinicians.
As an independent institution under public law of the Canton of St. Gallen, the ZLM employs around 230 staff. The quality standard is documented by the certification according to ISO/IEC17025. In addition, the institute is a SIWF FMH-certified training center for graduated BMA, doctors FMH, FAMH and FVH.
